Read They Say, I Say chapter 3, The Art of Quoting.

     The animal rights lawyer Doris Lin states that "Many animal rights activists have pets; some have a lot of pets. We don't own our children, but we are their guardians. If animals were no longer considered property, we could still be allowed to have pets just as we can have children without owning them". Basically, Lin is saying that people should not consider animals as property; we should not own them, but we are still able to have pets.
